MDS Hop - Wedding Programs

Happy Thursday!  It's time for the MDS Hop where we show you what we've been working on!  My sister-in-law is getting married on Saturday and asked me if I could do her wedding programs.  She found some on line that she absolutely loved - but couldn't afford.  Well, guess what?  MDS to the rescue!!  :)

She is having an outdoor wedding so she wanted the programs made into little fans.  Aren't they cute?! The back has the wedding party with a pretty monogram initial for her "new" name faded behind the bride and groom's names.  But... I figured I shouldn't plaster everyone's names all over the internet so you'll have to envision the other side in your head. :)

These were fun to make in MDS!  As you can see, I used a bunch of different fonts, text on a path to create the curved words, a heart punch and champagne glasses from the Happy Hour download.  The colors are Melon Mambo and Basic Black.  We printed them, rounded the corners, and glued them onto wooden sticks!  (X 100!)  lol!

It really is amazing all that you can do with MDS! I love it!!

Bunk Bed Buds Scrapbook Layout

Happy Monday!  (At least that's what I keep trying to tell myself - the weekends go by way too quickly!!)  I wanted to share a page I did for a new challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers.  A new Monthly Scraplift Challenge started this month.  When you sign up to join the challenge, you are to scraplift a layout from the person ahead of you.  I scraplifted a layout from Terri - you can see her original layout HERE.

And here is the layout I did:

I loved the layers in her layout and the big journaling block.  It was perfect to tell my story of these photos.  I went back in the archive again.... getting caught up on some old photos on my computer.  And so glad that I did!!  Love them!  This was a quick layout to put together but one I hope my boys will treasure! :)

Need to get those photos off of your computer and into your scrapbooks?  Check out MDS - this digi software is amazing and so easy to use.  You can get the scoop here in my online store.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week!!

Stampin' Celebration Sketch Challenge #70

It's time for a new sketch challenge over at Stampin' Celebration!!  Are you ready to play along?!

Here's my take on this month's sketch:

If you've been following my blog and scrapbook pages lately, then you know I'm trying to make a dent in our Disney photos - I think I have two more trips to finish!?!? Anyway.... I've enjoyed looking at old photos from when my boys were smaller.... and an ice cream could make everything better. :)

The "Eat Yummy Treats" is from the Happy Hour Digital Kit and the ice cream stamp is from the April Showers Download.  I love to use the coloring tool to make the stamps match my layout! :)  The "Best Day Ever" embellishment is from the Happy Life Download.  (I love to use the Global Search Tool to find little elements I didn't even know I had....)

This was actually my second layout with this sketch.  My first attempt I wasn't as happy with, but here it is:

As you can see, I kept the photo frames and the clouds the same.  And instead of DSP along the bottom I created a little road using a border punch.  Kinda cute... but I couldn't decide if it was too busy.  Either way, I love documenting these memories and I'm moving on to the next layout....  lol :)

The little embellies and the background DSP are from the On the Go Downlaod.  The DSP inside the little road is from Back to School.

MDS Hop - Home Decor

Hi there!!  It's time for the MDS Hop and this month it's all about Home Decor!!

I love to see all of the creative things others do with MDS - so this should be a fun month!! I chose to make some wall decor for my son's room.

If you're not into the lacrosse scene then you might not know that "lax" is short for lacrosse.  A friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook last year with something similar to what I did, but without the images.  I've been wanting to recreate it myself - and our Game Day & Lacrosse downloads are perfect!!

All I did was create my own images in MDS.  First, I created my project with the custom size I needed to fit the letters.  I used Sahara Sand as the background color for the first two letters (they look like different shades in this picture but they're the same).  I added a stamp from the Game Day Photobook Template to give it a little extra color and grunge look.

For the last three letters I selected a custom blue color and added stamps from the Game Day Lacrosse download.  After I printed out the paper, I traced the letters onto the paper, cut them out with an exacto knife, and mod-podged the paper onto the wooden letters.  I sanded the edges a bit before adding a coat of Mod Podge to the top. I love how the "lax" stands out.  The project didn't turn out perfectly, but my son is going to love it!!

The most difficult part was getting the stickers off of the letters.  Seriously... a man must've been the one to apply stickers to the front of wooden letters?!  But, come to find out, my Stampin' Up! Bone Folder (#102300) and Adhesive Remover (#103684) worked like a charm to help get all of the residue off!  LOL!  I also realized after I finished that there weren't any hooks or holes on the back for hanging... so, I had to prop it up on my fireplace for photos -- sorry!!

Make sure and follow along with the rest of the Blog Hop so you can see the home decor the other designers created!  :)

Disney Layout for MDS Monday

Hi!  I was happy to find some creative time today!  I played along with the sketch challenge over at MDS Monday.  Here's the result:

We had a sketch to use and a challenge to use frames on our photos.  I really, really, really tried to use something other than the Downtown Grunge frames..... but, nothing else looked right!  They are my favorite frames and I use them all of the time!  I recolored them to coordinate with my layout.

Again... I'm going back in the photo archives and scrapbooking photos from a 2003 Disney trip!  This was the day we left to head to Orlando.  The boys were so excited and we were so happy with how good they were in the car for that long drive! :)

MDS Digi Downloads Used:
Back to School (Background Paper), The Best Year (sentiment), Downtown Grunge (frames), Midnight Cheer (Little star/firework looking images I cropped from a punch), Flag Punch, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch, Circle Punches (to make the Mickey head).
Fonts:  Waltograph, Janda Safe and Sound

Introducing the Envelope Punch Board!!  I do not have this nifty tool yet but my mom does.  She just sent us the cutest anniversary card (18 years with hubby on Monday!) with a great envelope to match.  She likes to make big cards and she was able to make an adorable envelope with the Envelope Punch Board with coordinating DSP.  I love how the envelopes look using our double-sided DSP!!  Very fun and this is now on my wish list!!  (You can make 66 different envelope sizes?!)

You can see a quick video here on how it works!  Looks pretty easy to me!

Celebrate YOU!

Happy September!  This is always a fun month!  My Grandma and I celebrate our birthdays (I was born on her 50th birthday) and my hubby and I will celebrate our 18th Anniversary!  (How is that possible?!)  PLUS, we're celebrating a NEW challenge over at Stampin' Celebration with our NEW Design Team members!! I enjoyed playing along with this month's Inspiration Challenge and came up with this card:

I had fun with all of the circles, layers and little flags:

And here is the new Inspiration Challenge over at Stampin' Celebration:

As you can see, I used the colors and the circles on the cake for my inspiration!  I really love how these colors look together - I used Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana. :)

I'm also linking up with the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Here's their sketch:

Products Used:
Stamps:  Best of Greetings (#133485) & Seasonal Sayings (#128009) - soooo happy this stamp set came back in the big catalog!
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Other:  Circle Punches (3/4", 1", 1 1/4"), 1" Square Punch (to make the little flag cut), Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, 2-Way Glue Pen

I think the hardest part of this card was gluing down those little circles! Thank goodness for my 2-Way Glue Pen!
