MDS Blog Hop

Happy Thursday!  It's time for another round of our MDS Blog Hop!  Our group of MDS-crazed designers are here to share what we've been working on in MDS.  I've been playing with the scraplift challenge again over at Splitcoast Stampers.  I was excited to scraplift Wendy this month.  I loved Wendy's layout so much that I cased it pretty closely - even down to the subject!!  Here's my version:

I LOVE this photo of my son hugging Minnie Mouse!  Disney memories are just so special! :)  In order to get the wave on the side, I started with an oval punch and altered it to get that shape.  I also had fun adding rhinestones to the circle punch. :)

Downloads used:
The Best Year, Back to School, Summer Home, Snowy Soiree, Glimmer Paper, The Split Second, Heart Punch, Basic Rhinestone Jewel
Fonts:  Waltograph, Marker Felt

Challenges are always a fun way to get your creativity going.  What are some of your favorite challenge sites?

We hope that our Blog Hop sparks your creativity as well.  Make sure and follow along and see what the other designers have been up to.  Next up is Beth Rush.  Click the button below to visit her blog.

Thanks for joining us on the MDS Hop!!

Digi Scrapping with MDS Monday

Hi!  Last week I saw a sketch over at MDS Monday that I knew I wanted to use.  I always have multiple photos to include on a page and last week's sketch was a great one for that.  I had some time today and scrapbooked some old Disney photos:

These photos make me laugh!!  Every little expression on their faces is too funny!  I think my hubby was having more fun in the arcade than my son!!  lol!

MDS Downloads Used:
Everybody's Business, Petal Parade (arrow), Hello Perfection (arrows), World Traveler (car), Grateful Pocket Cards (sentiment), Candid Frames, Simples Stitches

Here is the sketch from MDS Monday that inspired my layout:

I wanted to make one of the photos bigger so you could see their faces a little better.  I didn't like how the photo looked in a circle punch, so I used circle stitches instead around the photo.  I love these filmstrips too - it's the first time I've used them!!  :)

Thanks for visiting and have a terrific Tuesday!!

MDS Blog Hop - E-cutters

Welcome to the MDS Blog Hop!! This month we're having an e-cutter challenge!  Have you jumped on the e-cutter bandwagon yet?  I received (well, really bought myself) a Silhouette Cameo for my birthday last fall.  I use it all of the time - for hybrid cards, party favors and banners, title and embellishments for scrapbook pages, etc.  It's really fun to see how you can use MDS with this machine!  For today's hop, I created an Easter card.

Products Used:
Paper:  Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush, So Saffron, Pink Pirouette
Stamps:  Eggstra Spectacular
Ink:  Crumb Bake, Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz
Other:  Linen Thread, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (sab)
MDS Downloads:  Little Additions (bunny), Grass Punch, A Good Egg

I LOVE that I can use my e-cutter to cut out images in my MDS program!  It's really not difficult to do!   Here's a brief step-by-step of how I created this card:
  1. First, I created a 5x7 landscape card file in MDS.
  2. Then, I used the global search to find the grass, bunny and eggs for my project.
  3. I laid out the images in MDS like I wanted them to be on my card.
  4. Once I had the size and layout that I wanted, I moved them around so they were spread out a little bit and exported it as a jpeg.  This is what the image looked like:

  5. Next, I opened my Silhouette Studio Software and merged the above file.
  6. Then, I selected my trace area.  (I did all three images above separately, but you can select them all at once and then divide as needed).
  7. After I had the image selected, I traced the outside edge.  I usually have to adjust the high pass filter and threshold to get a clean cut.
  8. Finally, I cut out the images on the different colored cardstock I wanted.
  9. Once I had all of my images cut out, I did a little stamping and sponging and pieced it together onto a card.  Pretty cute, huh?!
I hope all of that made a little bit of sense…  Isn't it fun how you can take a stamp in MDS and make it into a die cut?  The possibilities are endless!!

I can't wait to see what the other designers have created.  I just know there is going to be some good stuff this month!!  If you're following along with us, the next stop along our hop is Beth Rush!  Click the button below to see what she created with her new e-cutter! :)

Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!
