Blessings from Heaven Card

Happy Friday!  I want to share a card I made last night using this week's sketch over at Let's Scrap.

(inside of card)

What do you think?  I had fun pulling out my Big Shot and using my Framelits Labels Collection dies.  I just love how you can stamp an image and then easily see where to place the die to perfectly cut around it!!  There are also plenty of fun stamp sets in the new Stampin' Up! Catalog that coordinate!  Soooo awesome!  (Check out the coordinating stamp sets on pages 102 and 139 of the catalog).

Ribbon Tip:  Our Seam Binding Ribbon is really fun to use.  To get this "ruffled" effect, simply pull one middle strand at the end of your ribbon, and it will gather as you go.  Isn't it pretty?

Products Used:
Stamps:  Blessings from Heaven (clear-123052; wood-123050), Bordering on Romance (clear-125482;  wood-125480)
Ink:  Baha Breeze Stamp Pad (126960)

Dogs Have Birthday Parties Too!

Yes, at our house we celebrate our dogs' birthdays!  We have two labs from the same litter that were born in March.  Usually, we make our girls, Marley & Pepper, wear birthday hats -- but they didn't want to cooperate this time!!  I did manage to snap a photo though and wanted to use this week's Inspiration Challenge at Stampin' Celebration and the National Scrapbook Day Sketch from Let's Scrap for my layout!

Here's my scrapbook page:

I was excited to use my new Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch from Stampin' Up! - and thought it would make a cute top to the party hat!  So many possibilities with this new punch!!

Here's a closeup of the party hat.  I used the Big Shot's Petal Cone Die for the hat, embossed it, added the pompom trim (oh, how I hope this comes back in July), the #4 from the Alphabet Simple Die and the Triple Layer Punch and Glimmer Brad for the top.

Products Used:
Cardstock:  Tempting Turquoise, Peach Parfait, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Designer Series Patterns Stack in Brights (one of my favs!)
Stamps:  Bring on the Cake, Sweet Shoppe Alphabet Upper
Ink:  Basic Black
Punches:  Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch, 1 3/4" Circle (for title)
Big Shot:  Circle #2, Petal Cone, Alphabet Simple, Tasteful Trims Border, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder
Other:  Daffodil Delight Pompom Trim, Brads in Glimmer Brights, Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker

Here is the Let's Scrap sketch I used:

And here is the Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge Photo this week:

I love both of these challenges and think I'll be using them again!!  I'd love to see what you create if you play along!

Scrapbook Photo Challenge

I am so excited to host the weekly challenge (Challenge #95) over at Let's Scrap!  I'd love for you to play along - here's the scoop:

I thought it would be fun to do a "Now & Then Photo Challenge."  The idea of this challenge is to scrap at least two photos taken from different times - now and then.  It can be a picture of the same person at two different points in their life (example, as a baby and then an adult, etc.).  Or, it could be a picture of two different people at similar stages in their lives (example, your prom picture and your child's prom picture).  The idea is to take a trip down memory lane and find some similarities and/or differences in your photos!  If you can't find photos of people, feel free to use photos of places (childhood home and current home), things (old Coke bottle, new Coke bottle), vacations, memories, etc., etc.!
So, go ahead and pull out those baby photos, school pictures, wedding photos, etc. and have some scrapping fun!   Here are the guidelines:
  • Use a Let's Scrap Sketch to complete your layout.
  • Use at least two photos from different time periods.  (Either now and then of the same person/place/etc. or now and then of two different people/place/etc.)
  • Upload your layout to the Let's Scrap Gallery by next Thursday night to be included in the drawing.
  • Tag your photo with:  Challenge95 and the Sketch number  (mine will be Challenge95, 2-3-10).
  • Have a fun trip down memory lane!

Here is my layout for this challenge:

I chose a picture of my son and my dad - 9 years apart.  I couldn't believe I ended up with these two similar photos, years later!  There are so many photos that would be fun to scrap this way - my senior high school picture next to my mom's senior high school picture, my kids in their Halloween costumes and me and my brother in our Halloween costumes, my husband as a baby and as an adult.......  Hopefully, you get the idea!!  The winner will receive a RAK from my stash.  I'd love to see what you come up with!!  :0)

Products Used:
Stamps:  Notes & Details, Sweet Summer
Ink:  Baha Breeze, Early Espresso
Paper:  Baha Breeze, Early Espresso, Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Nursery Suite DSP
Punch:  Decorative Label
Big Shot:  Tasteful Trims Die, Alphabet Simple Die, Circles #2
Other:  Designer Buttons in Brights, Linen Thread, Sponge Dauber

I love how this layout turned out!  I used the Notes & Details stamp set to make the lines on my journaling circle.

I also love using my stamps to create patterned paper.  I especially love the tone on tone effect.  Here, I used Baha Breeze ink stamped on Baha Breeze paper - so pretty!  Here's a closeup of some of the details.

So, hop on over to Let's Scrap and join in on the fun!  Lots of fun sketches, challenges and events going on for National Scrapbooking Month!  Woo hoo!

And don't forget that it's May 1st -- that means Stampin' Up!'s NEW Summer Mini Catalog is available!  So many fun, new products!  You can view the new Summer Mini Catalog here or through the link on the right sidebar of my blog.  Contact me if you'd like to receive a copy of this new catalog.  You can shop 24/7 in my online store.  I can't wait to hear what your favorite new products are!!

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Today over at Let's Scrap, a fun new sketch is posted!  This is the sketch used to pick the new Design Team that starts this month!  I'm excited to stay on as a Continuing Design Team member!  I just love this site and all of the inspiration that is shared there.  The sketches are awesome and have totally changed the way I scrapbook!  If you haven't visited before, be sure and check it out and meet the fabulous new Design Team!

One of the things I love about Let's Scrap is the two-page sketches.  This week, I only did one side of it, but hope to finish the other side later.  Here's my layout:

And here's a close-up of the ribbon:

And here's the sketch:

I just love the title of this layout.  This little phrase is our saying.  We've been saying it ever since Evan was 4.  We were swinging on the playset in our backyard one day when Evan looks at me and says, "This is the life Mom."  It was just the sweetest thing ever.  It's the little moments like that, that I never want to forget!!  So, from then on, that's become our saying.  Little moments that make us happy, times when we're together, and times we never want to forget, always seem to be followed with - "This is the life."  And it is.  We are so truly blessed - and I love that my boys realize that!!  :)

Supplies Used:
Paper:  Play Date Designer Series Paper, Real Red Cardstock, Early Espresso Card Stock
Stamps:  Notes & Details, Filled With Love
Ink:  Early Espresso Ink Pad and Stampin' Write Marker
Ribbon:  Pear Pizzazz Stitched-Poly
Punches:  XL Round Tab
Other:  Dimensionals, Sticky Strip

Don't forget to stock up on your favorite Stampin' Up! Supplies during Sale-a-Bration!  Earn a free stamp set (or other goodies) for every $50 you spend.  Love the layout above?  Here's your shopping list to get some fun products and earn a free stamp set:
Notes & Details Stamp Set:  122060 (clear mount) $18.95 or 122022 (wood mount) $26.95
Play Date Designer Series Paper:  117168 (12 sheets of double-sided patterned paper) $9.95
XL Round Tab Punch:  119864 - $16.95
Pear Pizzazz Poly-Stitched Ribbon (15 yards) - $8.95

The above order with the clear mount stamp set totals $54.80 before tax/shipping and qualifies you for a free Sale-a-Bration Stamp set.  (Plus, you'll have tons of paper and ribbon left over.)  Click here to see the freebies available.  Visit my online store to shop 24/7 or contact me if you have any questions about ordering.  You'll earn punches on your Stampin' Rewards card with each qualifying purchase!

Here's a picture of the stamps you receive with the Notes & Details Stamp Set from the New Occassions Mini Catalog.  If you're a scrapbooker, this is a must-have set!  Love the journaling lines, the numbers to easily create a list, and the date stamp!

This stamp set is available in both clear-mount or wood-mount rubber stamps.  Visit my store here to purchase and have shipped straight to your door!

There's still plenty of time to play along with the Let's Scrap Blog Hop.  Lots of fun challenges and prizes await you!!

Got Chocolate?

If you are hopping over to find my Let's Scrap Blog Hop Challenge, click here!!!

Happy Wednesday!  It's time for a new sketch over at Let's Scrap.  This week we have a card sketch from Kimmy.  Here's my card:

You all tell me that you want quick projects!!  Well, I'm labeling this card as fast & fab!  It took me about 10 minutes to make this card!  And, if I had used ribbon in place of the punched diagonal border, it would have taken even less time!

Supplies Used:
Paper:  Blushing Bride & In Color Designer Series Paper Pack, Early Espresso
Ink:  Early Espresso
Stamps:  Eat Chocolate
Punches:  Circle, Scalloped Circle, Scallop Trim Border, Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border
Other:  Dimensionals

Easy peasy!  Isn't that polka-dot paper super cute?!  It's from the hostess only set of In Color Designer Series Paper Pack.  It comes with a pad of 6x6 patterned papers - so fun!  And, how about that stamp set?  It's from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  I love this set with all of it's sentiments!  (Being the chocolate lover that I am!!)

Well, that's it for today!  Make sure and upload your creation in the Let's Scrap gallery.  I'd love to see it!  Make sure and stop by tomorrow when the new Stampin' Celebration Inspiration Challenge (SCIC) is revealed!!

Scrapbook Resolutions

If you are hopping over to find my Let's Scrap Blog Hop Challenge, click here!!!

The Let's Scrap Blog Hop is in full swing!  The "resolution" theme has really got me thinking about my creative goals.  Scrapbooking will always be my first love.  I recently returned from my bi-annual girls' scrap weekend.  My family always wants to see the layouts I created when I get home.  I just love watching the boys go through our scrapbooks and reminisce about special moments in our lives.  That is the reason I began to scrapbook and will continue to do so!  It has since become my favorite hobby and my creative outlet.  I also love having such a wonderful group of friends that share this hobby with me.

I do have some scrappy resolutions for the new year and I'll share them with you.  (Or, feel free to scroll down to my layouts - lol!)
  1. To continue to document our family's history through each layout I create.  To focus on both the important moments in our lives but also the little things that I never want to forget!
  2. I'm setting a big goal of 104 layouts in 2011!  It sounds like a lot - but I know it's doable.  It averages out to a 2-page layout a week!  I have a little dry erase board in my "studio" where I tally each page.
  3. Do more digital scrapbooking.  I recently purchased the digital scrapbooking software, My Digital Studio from Stampin' Up!  (For info on this click here.)  I really enjoy traditional scrapbooking, but with all of the photos I take, it's easy to get overwhelmed.  I'd like to do photobooks for the boys' sporting events and some of our family vacations.  Everything else, I will continue to do traditionally.  I'm also very excited about doing photobooks and calendars for gifts - so fun!
  4. Finish my son's school scrapbook.  I've gotten a little behind (gasp) and want to complete it in time for his 5th grade graduation gift.  (sniff, sniff - they grow up so fast!)
Do you have any crafty resolutions or goals for this year?  Leave me a comment - I'd love to hear them!  Need some scrappy time to get inspired?  Join me for Chicks & Chocolate the last Friday of each month! We have tons of fun and actually get some projects done!  If you're new to scrapbooking or prefer to make cards, I'll have some kits available to purchase.  (Which makes it fast and easy!!)

I've been enjoying the Let's Scrap Blog Hop and all of the wonderful layouts in the gallery.  I've actually done a couple of layouts myself that I want to share.  Most of you know that I've been a scrapbooker for a very long time and have become quite the collector (or hoarder as my dear friend might call it) over the years....  Well, I'm trying to use up some of my stash.  So, even though Stampin' Up! is now my very favorite, I will post an occasional layout without all Stampin' Up! products.  (another gasp!)

One of the challenges I completed was from Carolina - to make a layout or card without opening up new packs of anything!  That was easy for me since I have quite a few half-used kits lying around!  Here's my layout:

Isn't that a sweet face?   My son Evan LOVES to read - which make mama very happy!  :-)  I loved documenting this in a scrapbook page!

My next layout is for Betty Anne's challenge.  Her challenge was to scraplift a layout from the Let's Scrap gallery.  I chose to scraplift one of my favorite layouts from Jean Marmo.  Here's my layout:

I loved all of the layering and inking that Jean did on her layout - I tried to do the same on mine.  This is Evan and our sweet dog Marley.  She adores him and sleeps right next to his bed every night.  I was so tempted to title it "Marley & Me" but opted for "The Best Bud."  I am a firm believer that every boy needs a dog.  (Or maybe every dog needs a boy?!)

I also wanted  to say a big thank you to all of the wonderful comments this week!  I've received so many congratulations on making the Stampin' Celebration Design Team and compliments on my projects.  It really means a lot to me and makes me smile!  Thank you!!

Well, that's it for today.  Shew, what a long post.... thanks for listening to my ramblings and checking out my creations!  Stop back by tomorrow for my take on the new Let's Scrap card sketch!

Let's Scrap Wednesday

Wednesdays mean a new sketch is posted over at Let's Scrap!  I love all of the two-page sketches over there!  You've got to stop by and check them out!!  Oh, and guess who this week's prize sponsor is?!  ME!  So, hurry on over for your chance to win some fun Stampin' Up! products from the new Occasions Mini Catalog.  You have until next Tuesday to upload your layout to Let's Scrap.  Here is this week's sketch:

And here's my take on it:

Supplies Used:
Paper:  Cherry Cobbler cardstock, Jolly Holiday DSP, Very Vanilla cardstock
Stamps:  Jolly Bingo Bits
Punches:  Ornament
Other:  Early Espresso Ribbon, Brights Brads, Sizzlits

Ok, so I'm not in love with this layout.... at all.  I always find it hard to scrap all of the little Christmas photos.  Or, maybe it's because I did this at 2:00 am on my girls' scrap weekend?!  Either way, I have a feeling I'll be going back to this layout and adding a little something....  I think I need some dazzling diamonds on my snowflakes.... maybe that will do the trick?!  Oh well, I am happy to finally get these photos scrapped - from 2009!!!

Don't forget to stop back tomorrow as I have some exciting news!!!  (Remember my secret I was telling you about?!  I can finally let the cat out of the bag!!)

Also, Friday starts the Let's Scrap DT Blog Hop... so you must come back for that as well!!!  This will be a month long Blog Hop full of challenges, inspiration and prizes!!  You won't want to miss it!
