Let's Scrap Challenge

I was so happy to have some scrapping time today!!  I completed a layout for Kristie's "New to You" Challenge over at Let's Scrap.  We had to use a new technique on a layout based on one of the Let's Scrap Sketches.  Here's mine:

The technique I used was dry embossing on my title.  I also used my Big Shot to cut chipboard letters, which I've been wanting to try for a while now.  It worked out great!  I also tried cutting felt with it - not so good - I think I need a different type of felt, maybe?!  I also wanted to try and make my own die cut embellishment.  I started trying to make an owl with my Big Shot.  I just couldn't get it to look as cute as I had envisioned, so I gave up and used a little owl embellishment I found at Michael's!  I did use my Cricut to cut the tree though - and stamped the trunk to look like wood.  I was happy enough with how it turned out.  Here's a close-up of the tree and my title.

Supplies Used:
Patterned Paper, Cardstock - DCWV (The Green Stack)
Green Patterned Paper for Tree - TLC
Fiber; Ink - CTMH Sassy Strands; Chocolate
Brads - Target Dollar Spot
Stamps - Cosmo Cricket (Mr. Campy)
Owl - Michael's
Pinecone Sticker - Pebbles, Inc.
Journaling Pen - Sakura
Embossing Folder - Cuttlebug
Cricut - Zoobaloo
Sizzix - Lollipop

I have been eyeing DCWV's "Green Stack" for a while now.  I went to Hobby Lobby for some retail therapy yesterday and finally bought it!!  It has some really fun paper in it!  I knew it would work well with our camping pictures and some of our recent vacation pictures!!

Thanks for the challenge Kristie!  Now, if I can just get up the nerve to pull out my sewing machine....

Thanks for looking and have a great week!

Lucky Winner at Let's Scrap!!

I was so excited to hear that I won the drawing over at Let's Scrap!!  I came home from vacation and had a package of wonderful scrapbook supplies waiting for me from the Scrapbook Circle!  I was in heaven!  I can't wait to play with my new goodies!!

Here is a picture of my layout from Cheri's sketch:

This was such a fun layout to make!  I just love these pictures of Carter in his element - baseball!!

We had a wonderful vacation out to the beautiful Pacific Northwest!  We hiked waterfalls, visited family, played in Portland and Seattle, and went snow skiing.  This was the boys' first plane ride (I won't mention the three-hour flight delay or the 48 hours of lost luggage) and their first ski trip.  It was fabulous!!!  Here is a picture of me, Carter and Evan before we went down our first "big" run!!

I have over 200 pictures from our trip on my camera!!  I hope to be able to print them and scrap them soon!!!  I'm having scrapbook withdrawals!!  Thank goodness the weekend is almost here!!

Happy Scrapping!!

My Sunday Crafternoon

My dear friend Heidi, invited me over to her house today for a "Crafternoon."  (Is that cute or what?!  She is sooooo Martha Stewart-y.)  She had this whole little Valentine theme going on and we did some crafting.  I made this little "love" sign.

As a mom of two boys, I don't get to use a whole lot of pink - so it was fun to make something kind of girly!  :)

Here's another little something I made this weekend:

We started an entire new allowance system, household chores, etc. with the kids.  Today is the first day we did some extra chores from the "Job Jar."  I don't know why I felt the need to scrap this empty bread crumb container...  It's not like it's really going to make doing housework any more enjoyable, or make the boys moan any less about it.... but it's kind of cute, right?!  And lucky for me, it matches my scrapbook room perfectly!  :)
Happy scrapping and have a wonderful week!

Sketch Inspiration

Happy Monday everyone!  I was able to get a little bit of scrapping done last weekend!  I used a sketch from Sketch Inspiration to FINALLY scrap this picture of my hubby and my son Carter, from his first t-ball team.  I think this photo is priceless and one they will both treasure for a very long time!  Carter has been obsessed with baseball for as long as I can remember - and he's still going strong!  I had a hard time finding my scrapping mojo at first, but finally got it done.  Do you ever feel patterned-paper challenged?  I'm still not sure that I love this layout, but will love that photo forever... and that's what really matters, right!?

Happy Birthday Mom!
Sunday, was my Mom's birthday.  We all went out to dinner to celebrate.  Here is a picture of the two of us.  (Compliments of my budding photographer --- I had to crop out the glasses, chips & salsa, etc., etc.!)  Hope everyone has a wonderful week!  Happy Scrapping!
