Plexus Slim - What is this Pink Drink anyway?

Hi there!! I've had so many people ask me about Plexus Slim - aka, "the pink drink". I decided to do a quick video to explain the key ingredients and show how easy it is to mix!  Watch below or you CLICK HERE to see it on YouTube.

I've been drinking Plexus Slim daily for 8 months now.  As discussed in the video, it has helped so much with my mood and my sugar cravings.  This is not a product I was originally interested in. I kind of chalked it up as a weight loss gimmick.  But, I saw it came bundled in the Triplex Combo with the two products I was interested in. So, with my Nutrition background, I decided to research the key ingredients. And this is what I found:

Chromium - This is an essential mineral that enhances insulin function. It helps to balance blood sugar levels and burn fat by moving glucose into the cells to be used for energy.

Garcinia Cambogia - This fruit extract helps to convert carbs and sugars to energy so they aren't stored as fat.  It is a natural appetite suppressant and can help you feel full quicker.  It also helps to increase Serotonin levels in the brain.  Serotonin and help improve mood, reduce food cravings and promote better sleep. (This has been huge in helping my sugar cravings and emotional eating!)

Alpha Lipoic Acid - This is a natural anti-inflammatory that may help reduce inflammation and pain.  It can also slow the aging process of the skin, repair liver damage, and reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.

You know what else I found? There are no artificial sweeteners or hidden sugars. It is sweetened with Stevia, which is a natural, plant based sweetener. It's GMO, MSG and gluten free!  It is not a meal replacement. And it's easy to fit into a busy lifestyle!

After 8 months of drinking one "pink drink" a day, I still love it!!

If you have any questions about Plexus feel free to message me or visit my Plexus Website.

Have a great day!!

My Weight Loss Strategies

I had a Plexus customer ask about some of my personal weight loss strategies. My response was a bit long winded, but worth sharing. ;)

*As far as my weight loss, once I started working on gut health first, it made all of the difference in the works. The Triplex Combo is the bomb! My energy level increased significantly and i was motivated to walk regularly. I try and walk 5-6 days a week with at least 3 of those being long walks - an hour or more. Some days I'm lucky to jump on the treadmill for 30 minutes or walk my dog at night. But, I've made it a priority in my life. I don't want to be a frumpy mama that gets winded walking up the bleachers!

*The first month was tough because I'm an emotional eater. I started entering what I ate into the My Fitness Pal app. Some people say it's a pain and some will argue that you shouldn't count calories. But for me, it's a big eye opener to see where and when excess calories are coming in, learn how to make better food choices and think before I put soothing in my mouth. I don't think this needs to be done forever, but I recommend that you do it for a week to give yourself an idea of what a typical day/week looks like for you. Then, we can tweak it from there. I always did this with my clients when I was working outside the home as a Registered Dietitian.

*Everyone eats out. It's inevitable but can wreak havoc on your weight loss attempts.  Sometimes, we'll be out and about and go through a drive thru. I'll pull up food in the app and see what some lower calorie options are. At the end of the day, the app shows you the breakdown of nutrients between carbs, protein and fat. For me, protein was a struggle so I try and eat more protein now and less carbs. I still have bread, but try to limit and choose whole grains instead of white or other sugary carbs. Again, some people might not recommend tracking what you eat. It might seem daunting to you and doesn't have to be done. But again, it can be useful even if you just do it for a short time.

*I make sure and have protein every time I eat. I used to snap on carbs/sweets. BAD. Now, I make sure I have protein - a few almonds with fruit or yogurt, for example. Protein helps you feel fuller longer and helps to level out your blood sugar. It will help so you don't crash later like you might if you just eat carbs!

*Water! Drink a lot of it! I use a cup with a lid and straw and have ice water with me all day long. A general rule of thumb is to drink half of your body weight in ounces. So, if you weigh 150 pounds,  you should drink 75 oz of water a day. For me, I've found that I drink more with my cup/straw than if I use a regular cup or water bottle. Find what works for you!

*I am not one to give up foods that I love. I have a friend that lost 50 pounds in one year. She was that friend that would talk you into ordering dessert when you went out to dinner. Now, she's the complete opposite. She does not eat sugar, white flour or butter. At all. Period. I'm so proud of her! The progress that she's made is incredible. If you are type A, all-or-nothing type of person, then this might work for you. But for me, I want to eat a slice of pizza when there are 10 extra teenage boys at my house. I want a cocktail on girls' night out. I want to enjoy a piece of birthday cake and not feel guilty about it. If I deprive myself of those things all of the time, then I won't stick with it. You want it to be a lifestyle change. You want to be healthy for the long haul. So, you have to do what works for you. My friend said that if she were to have one donut, it would all be over and she'd fall back into her unhealthy eating habits. What she's doing works for her. For me, if I allow myself a treat every now and then, I don't feel deprived. I think of it as just that - a treat or celebration - knowing that on my next meal I'll be back on track and continue eating healthy.

*You have to find that balance and see what works best for you. I will say though, that after awhile on the Triplex Combo, my sugar/carb cravings have really improved. I feel full longer and quicker. I used to think about food from about 1 - 10 pm. No joke. I always thought of 2-4 as the "witching hour" when I would eat out of stress, boredom, etc. Now, there are so many times that I look at the time and think, wow, it's almost dinner time. It's crazy. It won't happen overnight. Take your products consistently and work on getting your gut healthy. Somewhere around 6-8 weeks it all just go so much easier. In the beginning, if I was about to go grab an unhealthy snack, I'd set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes. I made myself wait and do something else. And you know what? Every single time that timer went off, I no longer wanted that food!

*Plan ahead. When I know I'm going to meet my friends out for dinner that night, I try and eat less for breakfast and dinner. If I know Im going to be out and about and think I might be tempted to buy a snack or something, I'll bring a protein bar with me. If I know we're going out to eat, I'll look at the menu ahead of time and (try to) plan what I'm going to eat.

*Have a support system in place. Let those close to you know your goals and that you need their support. Find a walking partner. And have friends you can text or call for moral support (like me)!

*One last thing: weigh, take measurements and a couple of before photos NOW! Don't expect quick results - take your products and work a little on your diet and activity each day. It's best to say don't weigh or measure for a month. But I'd be lying if I said I did that. I tortured myself by weighing every single day. ha. I did measurements again after 2 months. That's when I was floored and joined as a Plexus Ambassador! ;) I've seen so many people that loose inches before they lose pounds. If you start exercising, you might actually gain a little at first. Don't let that discourage you. Be patient. Be consistent. I know my weight fluctuated a lot in the beginning. I also used another app called Happy Scale. It tracks weight trends and made me feel a little better about my initial progress when I looked at it that way.

Ok, this was a lot of info at once. But these tips along with my improved gut health through Plexus products have all helped with my success! I still have a long way to go. But, for the first time in 10 years, I feel like I'm in charge and that I can do it! And, I know that you can too!!

Live Healthy!!

My Weight Loss Journey Continues...

Eeek!  The last two months have been a whirlwind!!  I am so happy to say that this time around, my weight loss journey is a happy one!  I'm down 25+ pounds and I feel GREAT!  The non-scale victories have also been huge! I have so much more energy, I'm sleeping great, my sugar/carb cravings have diminished, my joint pain is gone, bloating gone and I just feel happier! (My PMS symptoms are gone as well so that makes my hubby and family happy too! lol).

Before Plexus and 2 months after Plexus (Father's Day 2015)

I mentioned in a previous post that I decided to look into Plexus.  A friend had posted about their probiotic and cleanse/magnesium supplement.  I also had another friend that told me about their "pink drink" and that she lost 5 pounds her first month.  I was intrigued by the Triplex Combo that focuses on gut health. I asked my Plexus friend to send me label info as I was a huge skeptic. I did a lot of research  - I mean, I looked up every ingredient in the Triplex Combo.  And the more I started looking into it, the more I found certain ingredients linked to blood sugar stability, energy, cholesterol, and gut health.  Then, I found more studies researching the correlation between gut health and metabolism, weight loss, immunity, and even depression.  I decided to "secretly" start the products and see what happened…

After about a month I felt pretty good. I had lost 5.5 pounds and had energy to exercise. My husband asked if the weight loss was because I'd been walking.  And then I thought he might be right.  I was a big skeptic myself.  So I stopped taking the products for about 10 days.  I fell back into my sluggish ways, I was craving sugar and having those afternoon crashes. I was grumpy and just didn't feel as good as I had.  So, back on Plexus I went and now I am a firm believer in these products!

At the end of June, I had lost 20 pounds and 6.5 inches! I couldn't believe it!  I decided to become a Plexus Ambassador to get a discount on the products I'd been taking! A few friends asked how I've lost the weight, I shared Plexus with them, and it's snowballed from there!!  I've now helped other people have success with their health and wellness. I'm loving being part of this amazing company as it ties in so well with my Nutrition degrees. I will continue to share my success and hopefully that of my friends/team as well!

If you'd like more info on Plexus, you can see label info on my Plexus Website. Or feel free to message me with questions!

Enjoy your day!! ;)

PLxSU Trio Challenge #16

Oh my stars!  That's what this week's PLxSU Trio Challenge is all about! In celebration of Independence Day, we challenge you to use stars on your Project Life layout!  I still had photos from last year's July 4th celebration so I scrapped those:

I used the Playground Project Life download and changed the colors to red, white, and blue. ;)  This came together quickly - and that's what Project Life is all about!!

We hope you find some inspiration this week and upload your layouts to the PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook page. Also, stop by Amber and Holly's blogs to see what they created!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you had a happy 4th!  :)

PLxSU Trio Challenge #15

We are back with another PLxSU Trio Challenge! This week, the Trio challenges you to use a date or calendar on your Project Life page. I had a big day to celebrate last week so I was anxious to create this page:

Ok, so that little calendar is so cute, right?  Why have I not used these more on my scrapbook pages?! I enjoyed making this page. It's not very often that I scrapbook about me, but this was a big deal! I've been making better food choices, walking regularly, and taking Plexus products to improve my health. I feel so much better and I wanted to document my accomplishment. As I continue on this journey I'll be posting more about it (I added a weight loss journey page) on my blog.  I'm anxious to reach my next and final goal of 20 more pounds. I think I can, I think I can...

We'd love to see how you use a calendar or date on your pages.  You can post them on our PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook Page.  Also, make sure and stop by Amber and Holly's blogs to see what they've created.

Thanks for visiting and have a great week!

Oh my grout...

Thank you blog followers for the sweet comments on my first weight loss journey blog post.  It really means a lot that y'all took the time to not only read my craziness, but also leave me a little love. I'm glad I'm not alone in this journey. Thanks for the encouragement.  xoxo

Well, it wasn't easy but I hit that "publish" button on that first weight loss post. It took awhile but now it's out there. Actually, I hit publish, got a notification that someone tweeted it, and then panicked and hit "revert to draft".  I think I published and removed it a few times before I finally let it be and was at peace with it. I was scared to post it because what if I failed {again} for all to see? Well you know what? I'm not going to because I'm finally making progress! First, let me start from where I last left off…

We are home from our cruise and the kids are back to school. I met a group of friends for lunch and enjoyed hearing about everyone's spring break. A few of us began talking about walking now that spring is here. One of my friends told another friend that they should get together and walk sometime. Um, hello? I'm sitting right here. Then I realized that maybe they assume since I'm a little on the squishy side that I wouldn't want to walk?! :(

This sounds caddy of me I know and I'm not sure why that upset me so much. But, it did which thankfully lit a fire under my behind. I was determined to start walking regularly and if I lost some weight in the process than that would be an extra bonus. Then, the next day my ankle started hurting. I had no idea what I did to it but there was no way I could start exercising. It was swollen and I was hobbling around. A friend of mine asked me if I thought I had gout (ok, really she said "grout" and we had a good laugh over that one). So I started doing some research and while I don't think it was "grout", I did find some interesting information about inflammation and your diet. For several days, I iced and rested my ankle and did more reading. I was so intrigued about inflammation, gut health, weight loss, depression and metabolism. I thought maybe I should try a cleanse/whole food type diet. Maybe this would help reset my metabolism and boost my weight loss efforts. I started looking at food lists and sample menus -- and then thought about our summer plans. We had two out of state baseball tournaments, family members coming to visit for a couple of weeks, basketball camp, baseball practices, driver's ed... The timing to try a restrictive diet was awful and I figured I'd just have to wait until things settled down. Then, I saw my friend's Facebook post about a probiotic and a gentle cleanse/magnesium supplement from this company called Plexus.

So, April 20th, 2015, my Plexus journey began…

to be continued...

And my weight loss journey begins {again}

Why in the world would I want to discuss my weight issues on my {crafty} blog for anyone and everyone to see?  Call me crazy.  But maybe the journaling aspect of it will help me break through the barriers. Maybe it will help to hold myself accountable.  And just maybe, this will resonate with a reader out there and help them along their journey to a healthier lifestyle. (And am I 100% sure I'm going to hit that "publish" button? No. It's kind of scary...)

On January 1st, 2015, I stepped onto the scale weighing more than when I was 9 months pregnant. I wanted to cry. I knew it was time to do something. My husband and I made our usual New Year's resolution to get healthy, exercise and lose weight. This was going to be our year…

Most of my "fat" pictures have been deleted or cropped and filtered.  {tell me I'm not the only one that has done this} But I found this unedited photo from 2014 to share:

Look at that handsome boy.  Do I want to be an unhealthy, tired, inactive mom for him?  Well I had become just that and not the role model I wanted to be.  :(

My hubby and I started out doing pretty well in the new year. We made healthier food choices. We made a conscious effort to eat out less. We tracked what we ate in the My Fitness Pal app. And, I got a gym membership. I'd lose a couple of pounds and then gain a pound back. It was a vicious cycle and not a very encouraging one. What little progress I made was impossible to keep off. I'd track what I ate on the "good" days and intentionally "forget" on the bad days. Oh and that gym membership had yet to be used. Fast forward a few months to spring break in April. We took the family on a cruise. (You know, I was going to be minus 20 pounds by now!) We had a great vacation and the boys loved it. But I sure didn't feel good in a bathing suit or even in sleeveless sundresses for that matter. I was too self-conscious to participate in water sports. And got winded going up more than a couple flights of stairs. And then there was this:

Seriously though, I know it's not about body parts and physical appearance but I was a mess. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid 10 years ago and had sluggish adrenals. I'd been working closely with my physician to get my thyroid levels under control but still felt exhausted, puffy, moody and unable to lose weight.

And do you know what's really bad?  I'm a registered dietitian.  Yep, I have a Master's degree in Nutrition.  I worked for years counseling clients and teaching nutrition classes.  I helped people lose weight, eat healthy and follow special diets for specific disease states.  And here I found myself in my mid-40's, 40 pounds overweight, unhappy about it and I couldn't even help myself.

We came home from our cruise and booked another one for next year. This time, I will get healthy for me before I step foot on that cruise ship. I have a year. I can do it.

To be continued...

PLxSU Trio Challenge #13

Happy Monday!  It's time for another PLxSU Trio Challenge!  This week, we challenge you to do a Project Life layout about dad.  It can be your dad, his dad, her dad or some type of father figure!  I was in a time crunch this week (and out of daylight to get a good photo) so I did a digi Project Life page using the Playground kit.

This page was easy peasy -- but I'm happy to finally have Father's Day 2013 documented!!

Make sure and stop by Amber and Holly's blogs and see their cute pages!!  And then stop by our PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook Page, check out the other pages, and upload your creation!!

PLxSU Trio Challenge #12

You know how some pages just come together so easily?  That's what happened this week with my layout for the PLxSU Trio Challenge.  Challenge #12 is to use stripes on your Project Life layout.  I had big plans to emboss stripes, cut out strips for stripes, draw stripes... but once I started working on last week's photos, that didn't happen.  The new Moments Like These Card Collection had some great "stripy" cards that worked perfectly! Here's the 2-page layout side-by-side.

Left Side:

Right Side:

Products Used:
Cricut - Alphalicious Cartridge
Collect App & My Selphy :)

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE this new Project Life kit?!  There are sooo many awesome cards!!  The colors are great to go with any photos.  love. love. love.

Ok, funny story about the journaling pens.  They come two in a pack.  Did you know that they're different?!  One is fine point and one is not.  I had no clue.  I'm a fine point girl myself.  But of course I opened the other one first to use.  Months and month later, I pull out the other one and surprise - it's fine point and it's perfect!!  Obviously, I didn't read the product description when I ordered these!  lol!

Thanks for stopping by!  Make sure and visit our PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook page where you can play along with our weekly challenges.  We love seeing your pages!!

I'm anxious to see what Holly and Amber do with this challenge!  Follow the links to their blogs to see!

PLxSU Trio Challenge #11

Happy Monday!  It's time for another PLxSU Trio Challenge.  This week we're challenging you to use some type of Memorabilia on your Project Life page.  I chose to use some stubs from the Aqua Park on our spring break cruise:

I can't believe I didn't even use one Project Life card here! Does that still qualify for a Project Life page? lol. Once I used all of my photos I ran out of pockets! I did use a Project Life page protector, stamps, journaling pens and accessories!

I am happy with how this turned out and I love these fun photos.  And guess what?  Yesterday I finished all of my photos from our Spring Break cruise!!  I'm so super excited and love how quickly I can get our memories documented with Project Life!

Make sure and check out Amber and Holly's blogs for their pages this week!  I know you'll love them!!  And make sure and stop by our PLxSU Trio Facebook Page.  You can upload your pages and check out the other inspiring posts!!

MDS Monday - Downtown Grunge

Yep, this is my 3rd post this week for MDS Monday.  Obnoxious.  And a tad embarrassing.  But I had to make a few pages with another one of my favorite downloads.  This one I use all of the time.  Downtown Grunge.  My go to frames and background paper.  Love it.  And once again, I cheated and used the templates!!  This first page made me cry as I wrote the journaling.  My son just finished his freshman year.  How did that happen?!

And these next two made me giggle:

I'm still creating away using as many photobook template pages as I can!  I think I currently have 34 pages ready to print!  Woot!!

Thanks again to the MDS Monday gals for the inspiration!  Have a great weekend!

MDS Monday - Round 2

Ok, I'm back with another post for this week's challenge over at MDS Monday.  It's the last week so I'm getting my money's worth… lol.  I mentioned yesterday that I have several favorite MDS downloads and have been using all three this week.  Here, I'm sharing a 2 page layout using The Best Year Photobook Template.  I love this download to create layouts to sum up each month!  It's fun to use it for the random photos that don't always warrant a whole page - but helps document the little things that I really don't want to forget. :)

Once again, I feel like I'm cheating when I use these templates.  But, I sure do love getting so many photos scrapped!!  For the bottom right picture, I took a photo of my son's artwork - too cute!  I sure wish this was around when my kids were in preschool - would've made my life a lot easier!

MDS Monday - Favorites

So this week is the last challenge over at MDS Monday.  I've enjoyed playing along with their sketches and truly love all things MDS.  This week, the challenge is to create a layout using your favorite download.  I have several -- Downtown Grunge (I think I use those frames on almost every layout), The Best Year (so great for quick monthly pages) and the Game Day Photobook Template.

I've been working on several pages so I can get them printed through Stampin' Up! before their print services are gone for good.  (sniff, sniff)  I've used template pages from the above downloads to get them done quickly!  It's pretty amazing how you can change a few elements and colors and it looks completely different!  Here, are some pages I did using the Game Day Photobook Template download.

I kind of feel like I'm cheating when I use the template pages -- but I'm always so happy with the results!!  I changed colors, added some different stamps and journaling and then the pages are perfect for my photos!! Love it!  I recently purchased several other downloads that have photobook templates while they're on sale. I can't wait to get these pages printed!

I'll post some layouts later this week using my other two favorite downloads. Thanks to the ladies over at MDS Monday for the inspiration.  :)

Have a great day!

PLxSU Trio Challenge #10 - B&W Photo

Woot - double digits!  We are on week #10 of the PLxSU Trio Challenge!  I'm so enjoying getting caught up with Project Life pages!  This week, the challenge is to use a black and white photo(s) on your page.  I had a hard time finding photos to use in black & white for this challenge.  Maybe it's because I don't have babies, or girls, or fancy family photos…?  So, baseball it is!

I added a little pop of color - in our team colors, of course.

Products Used:
Happiness Is Project Life Digital Download

We'd love to see your Project Life pages using black and white photos.  You can upload them on our PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook Page.  And don't forget to stop by Holly and Amber's blogs to see what they've created this week!

PLxSU Trio Challenge #8

Wow!  I can't believe we're already on week #8 of the PLxSU Trio Challenge.  Our hope is that you're finding inspiration on our Facebook page to get those precious photos into albums!  This week, our challenge is a little different.  Instead of completing an entire page, the Trio challenges you to create a WOW card to use on a page later. (Or if you're feeling ambitious… go ahead and use it and show us that too!)  It doesn't matter how many or what size Project Life card you create, if it's traditional or digital - just have fun!

I created two digital cards that I have in mind for an upcoming page in my oldest son's high school album.

My son went to the Sadie Hawkins dance this year as a freshman. I have some really cute photos from that night that I can't wait to scrapbook!  Usually, I make pretty boring title cards so I'm excited to have these done ahead of time - lol!  I used cards from the Everyday Adventure set as the starting point and added some other embellishments and stamps from other downloads.

We can't wait to see what you create this week!  Post your Project Life cards on our PLxSU Trio Challenge Facebook page!  And don't forget to check out Amber and Holly's blogs to see what they've created!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

MDS Monday Sketch Challenge

Hi there!  There's another new sketch this week over at MDS Monday that I wanted to play along with!  Anita's sketch has a place for one special photo so I chose a picture of my mom and me.

I don't get to use girly elements very often so this was a fun page to create. And I love this photo.  I took my mom to see Jersey Boys at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta for her birthday.  We had a great day together and snapped this selfie of ourselves. :)
