MDS Blog Hop - E-cutters

Welcome to the MDS Blog Hop!! This month we're having an e-cutter challenge!  Have you jumped on the e-cutter bandwagon yet?  I received (well, really bought myself) a Silhouette Cameo for my birthday last fall.  I use it all of the time - for hybrid cards, party favors and banners, title and embellishments for scrapbook pages, etc.  It's really fun to see how you can use MDS with this machine!  For today's hop, I created an Easter card.

Products Used:
Paper:  Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz, Crumb Cake, Strawberry Slush, So Saffron, Pink Pirouette
Stamps:  Eggstra Spectacular
Ink:  Crumb Bake, Strawberry Slush, Pear Pizzazz
Other:  Linen Thread, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder (sab)
MDS Downloads:  Little Additions (bunny), Grass Punch, A Good Egg

I LOVE that I can use my e-cutter to cut out images in my MDS program!  It's really not difficult to do!   Here's a brief step-by-step of how I created this card:
  1. First, I created a 5x7 landscape card file in MDS.
  2. Then, I used the global search to find the grass, bunny and eggs for my project.
  3. I laid out the images in MDS like I wanted them to be on my card.
  4. Once I had the size and layout that I wanted, I moved them around so they were spread out a little bit and exported it as a jpeg.  This is what the image looked like:

  5. Next, I opened my Silhouette Studio Software and merged the above file.
  6. Then, I selected my trace area.  (I did all three images above separately, but you can select them all at once and then divide as needed).
  7. After I had the image selected, I traced the outside edge.  I usually have to adjust the high pass filter and threshold to get a clean cut.
  8. Finally, I cut out the images on the different colored cardstock I wanted.
  9. Once I had all of my images cut out, I did a little stamping and sponging and pieced it together onto a card.  Pretty cute, huh?!
I hope all of that made a little bit of sense…  Isn't it fun how you can take a stamp in MDS and make it into a die cut?  The possibilities are endless!!

I can't wait to see what the other designers have created.  I just know there is going to be some good stuff this month!!  If you're following along with us, the next stop along our hop is Beth Rush!  Click the button below to see what she created with her new e-cutter! :)

MDS Christmas Cards & Blog Hop

It's hard to believe this is our last MDS Blog Hop of 2013!!  Today we are sharing with you what we've been working on.  I created our family Christmas cards in MDS again this year.  The hardest part is always getting a good family photo…  It's not my favorite but it had to do.  Here is the front of the 5x7 Christmas card I created:

I just love the chalkboard look that is so popular right now.  I thought it would look great with the colors in our photo.  I also love that we can add a design to the back of our cards in MDS:

Since our girls (our pooches) are such a big part of our lives I wanted to include them in our card.  lol!

Products Used:
Grateful Pocket Cards (background paper), Downtown Grunge (frame), Basic Pearls & Rhinestones, Christmas Messages, Love More (scroll), This Makes Me Happy (heart)

I had our cards printed through Stampin' Up! and was so happy with how quickly I received them!!  It's always a big relief to have these done every year!

Make sure and follow along with our blog hop to see what our other amazing designers have been working on.  Next up is Beth Rush.  I can't wait to see what she created.

SCIC #73 Sketch Challenge

Happy Sunday!  There's a new sketch over at Stampin' Celebration today.  I haven't had a lot of time to stamp lately ('tis the season), but I can always count on My Digital Studio to help me create something cute quick!  Both of my boys have had another great semester at school.  They've both received all A's again and my 8th grader gets to exempt all 6 of his finals because of his grades.  :)  This makes a mama very proud.  I think I've come to expect it though, and don't always give them the recognition that they deserve.  :(  I wanted to create a card for them along with a little surprise and knew I could make something "cool" and boyish with MDS.  Here's what I came up with:

Here is the sketch from Stampin' Celebration that I used for my inspiration:

Products Used:
Software:  My Digital Studio
Downloads:  Old School, Naturals Designer Buttons, It's All me

One of my newer downloads that I used for this card is Old School.  OMGoodness (as my 12 yo says).  This is a really great kit!!  Lots of great paper, embellies and stamps. Check it out HERE!

Make sure and check out the Stampin' Celebration blog and see what the other Designers have created with this sketch.  We'd love for you to play along with us!!

Have you checked out my online store lately?  There are lots of NEW ARRIVALS that you won't want to miss!  New stamp sets, Valentine's Kits, Best of December, etc., etc.!!

November's SCIC Blog Hop!

Hi there!  It's time for a new challenge over at Stampin' Celebration!!  I've had a crazy week because of this:

Ugh... not fun - especially when you're 11 yo is in the car with you!  Thank God we were ok.  My car... not so much!  I'm off to the Dr. to get checked out just to be safe as I'm still really, really sore....  Anyway... I didn't get to play with my new Truly Grateful stamp set like I had hoped.  So.... MDS to the rescue!!

I created a Thanksgiving card in MDS!  And, with the print sale going on, I can get several made!!  Yahoo!

Downloads Used:
Truly Grateful, Back to School (brown chevron), Burlap Ribbon, Antique Brad, First Edition DSP, World Traveler

I was inspired by our Photo Inspiration Challenge at Stampin' Celebration:

There are so many possibilities with this sketch!  My brainstorming went from birthday to Halloween to Thanksgiving and finally ended up on Christmas!  Here's the card I created:

The more I look at it, I feel like it needs a little extra something.....  Maybe a stamp on the white, or some solid paper for the ornament "tops".... but, it's cute and Christmas-y nonetheless.  :)

Products Used:
Stamps:  Teeny Tiny Wishes  (a must have)
Ink:  Cherry Cobbler, Soft Suede
Paper:  Season of Style Designer Series Paper Stack (#132181), Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede
Other:  Big Shot, Holiday Ornament Framelits Dies, Bitty Banners Framelits (#129267), Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder (#132174), Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, Houndstooth Embossing Folder, Bakers Twine in Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch

SCIC #71 - Grateful There's You!

Hi there!!  There's a new challenge over at the Stampin' Celebration Blog!  I created this card using the photos as my inspiration:

And here is the Inspiration Challenge:

Isn't this a great collection of photos?!  I chose the colors and the flowers as my inspiration!

Products Used:
Stamps:  Chalk Talk
Ink:  Early Espresso (stamped off) and sponged around edges
Paper:  Sweater Weather (#132184), Crumb Cake
Other:  Crumb Cake Seam Binding, Cotton Ribbon (torn), Chalk Talk Framelits, Boho Blossoms Punch, Adorning Acceents Edgelits, Mini Brads, Dimensionals, Glue Dots

I made the flowers by using the Boho Blossoms Punch, spritzing them with water, layering together with a brad, and scrunching them to look like flowers.  I love to do this!

Celebrate YOU!

Happy September!  This is always a fun month!  My Grandma and I celebrate our birthdays (I was born on her 50th birthday) and my hubby and I will celebrate our 18th Anniversary!  (How is that possible?!)  PLUS, we're celebrating a NEW challenge over at Stampin' Celebration with our NEW Design Team members!! I enjoyed playing along with this month's Inspiration Challenge and came up with this card:

I had fun with all of the circles, layers and little flags:

And here is the new Inspiration Challenge over at Stampin' Celebration:

As you can see, I used the colors and the circles on the cake for my inspiration!  I really love how these colors look together - I used Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana. :)

I'm also linking up with the challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Here's their sketch:

Products Used:
Stamps:  Best of Greetings (#133485) & Seasonal Sayings (#128009) - soooo happy this stamp set came back in the big catalog!
Ink:  Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana
Paper:  Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Other:  Circle Punches (3/4", 1", 1 1/4"), 1" Square Punch (to make the little flag cut), Big Shot, Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die, Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder, 2-Way Glue Pen

I think the hardest part of this card was gluing down those little circles! Thank goodness for my 2-Way Glue Pen!
